Remove the Your PC is being Tracked Popup

The Your PC is being tracked Popup is an advertisement displayed by adware and unsavory sites that tries to scare visitors into thinking that their PC is being tracked. These alerts display the operating system of the computer, the type of browser, the IP address, and the general geographic location. This information is being derived from the browser’s user agent and the IP address of the visitor. All sites are able to collect this information unless you use a VPN and user agent masking software.

When the Your PC is being tracked Popup is displayed in your browser it will display an alert that states:

ATTENTION!

Your PC is being tracked
OS: Windows 7
Browser Version: Chrome
IP: 192.168.1.1
ISP: Fake ISP
City/Area: Boulder, Colorado

Click OK to disable tracking!

When you press OK, it will then display another alert that then prompts you to install a Chrome extension.

Attention
Your Windows 7 PC is being tracked.
Your Chrome browser, search history and habits get tracked by Search Engines and Advertising companies in order to build a profile of you.
We highly recommend you click ‘Disable Tracking’ to prevent companies from tracking you further.
Disabling the tracking will also close security flaws that are vulnerable for Viruses and Trojans.

While web sites are able to track certain information about you based on cookies, user agents, and IP addresses, this popup is being used to scare you into installing a Chrome extension that states it can block this type of tracking. Unfortunately, this is untrue as searches conducted using this extension will just redirect you to Yahoo, which can track this information just like any other site. Furthermore, the proposed Chrome extension does not provide any added security against viruses or Trojans.

Thankfully, these types of advertisements can be closed by simply opening Windows Task Manager and ending the browser process. It is important, though, that if you end the browser process that you do not reopen previously closed sites if prompted by the browser when you start it again.

On the other hand, if you are constantly seeing these types of popups, or these pages are opening by themselves, then it may be possible that you are infected with an adware or other unwanted program that are displaying them.
