Iremow is a Google Chrome extension that has a description of “Find all the doubles with us”. When installed, this extension causes any searches made from the address bar and from certain search engines to be redirected through others sites and eventually to Yahoo.com, which will display the search results.
When this extension is installed and you perform a search, the searches will go through http://vouseat.webcam/iremow/?sid=[sid]&aid=[aid]&keyword=[keyword], which then redirects to Search.yahoo.com. The search engines that are affected by this extension are Google, Bing, MyWay, Ask, Aol, WoW, Infospace, webcrawler, When, MyWebSearch, DuckDuckGo, MySearch, Teoma, SearchLock, MyPrivateSearch, SearchPrivacy, and TheSmartSearch..
Search.yahoo.com will then display the search results for the keyword. The developers are most likely utilizing Yahoo.com in order to generate revenue from advertisements shown in the search results.
How was the Iremow Extension installed in Chrome?
The Iremow extension is currently being distributed through web sites that tell the visitor that they must install the extension before they can leave. It will then display a constant stream of javascript alerts and dialog boxes that won’t go away until the user installs the extension. An example of one of these types of pages for another variant in this family can be seen below.
Since this extension does not allow you to search on your desired search engines and instead redirects searches to Yahoo.com, you may as well just use Yahoo.com directly. If you do not wish to use Search.yahoo.com as your search engine, you can remove Iremow for free using these instructions. If you are unsure how this extension was installed or are concerned unwanted programs may be installed on your computer, I suggest you use the removal guide below instead.
Your computer should now be free of the Iremow Extension program. If your current security solution allowed this program on your computer, you may want to consider purchasing the full-featured version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to protect against these types of threats in the future.
If you are still having problems with your computer after completing these instructions, then please follow the steps outlined in the topic linked below:
