Remove the Google Membership Rewards Popup

The Google Membership Rewards Popup is a browser based advertisement that states that you have been selected by Google to win an iPhone 7 or other prizes. In order to claim this prize, though, you first need to finish a survey and then provide all of your contact information. As this ad is not from Google and it is not known what the submitted information is used for, I would strongly advise that you do not enter any personal information into this form.

When the Google Membership Rewards Popup is displayed in your browser it will display an alert that states:

Verizon Fios
Congratulations!

You are selected by Google to be among the first few persons to win an iPhone 7 or other Google prizes! This free gift is exclusively only for loyal Desktop Desktop users in the Los Angeles area.

Please confirm that you are the owner of this device by clicking OK.

When the visitor presses OK, they will be shown the following message:

Google Membership Rewards

Congratulations User! You have Won (1) Google Gift!

Every Tuesday we select 10 lucky Google users randomly once a day to receive a gift (Prize Guaranteed!) from Verizon Fios, our sponsors. This free gift is exclusively ONLY for Desktop Desktop users in Los Angeles! This is just our way to thank you for your continuous support for our product and services (Product name: Gmail, Youtube, Google Search).

You have been selected to win a gift from Verizon Fios worth up to $749 if you answer the next 4 questions correctly.

ACT NOW! 9 other Desktop users have received this invitation with only 5 prizes to win.

It should be noted that Verizon Fios and Los Angeles in the above alerts will be replaced with the visitor’s ISP name and location.

Once again, this is just an advertisement, the survey is not being by Google, and there is no proof that you will actually receive the stated reward. Furthermore, the amount of personal information that you are required to submit would make me wary as you do not know who these people are and what this information will be used for.

Thankfully, almost all browser ads can be closed by simply opening Windows Task Manager and ending the browser process. It is important, though, that if you end the browser process that you do not reopen previously closed sites if prompted by the browser when you start it again.

On the other hand, if you are constantly seeing these types of advertisements, or these pages are opening by themselves, then it may be possible that you are infected with an adware or other unwanted program that are displaying them. Once again, do not worry as it is quite easy to remove these infections if you follow the guide below.

Why am I Seeing the Google Membership Rewards Popup ?

The Google Membership Rewards browser advertisement can be displayed by installed adware programs or through less than reputable sites that are displaying them to generate advertising revenue.

For the most part, if you see a browser based advertisement, then you can simply close the browser and start it again. On the other hand, if you are continuously seeing popups with alerts like “Google Membership Rewards “, then you should scan your computer for adware and remove anything that is found.

Your computer should now be free of the Google Membership Rewards Popup program. If your current security solution allowed this program on your computer, you may want to consider purchasing the full-featured version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to protect against these types of threats in the future.

If you are still having problems with your computer after completing these instructions, then please follow the steps outlined in the topic linked below:
