Lego’s 2,807-Piece Bowser Will Tower Over Super Mario – CNET

Lego Mario, Luigi and Peach got a supersize nemesis on Thursday, in the form of Mighty Bowser. The 2,807-piece set will be Lego’s biggest version of the Mario baddie yet, mirroring the final boss encounters from many of the games.

This King Koopa will be available from Oct. 1, and it’ll set you back $270.

He includes a fireball launcher, and he’s fully articulated, so you’ll have a bunch of posing options. Also, a button lets control his head and neck movement. Plus, he has digital interactive features you can activate with the Lego Mario, Luigi and Peach figures.

“He might be the big boss, but he still brings back a warm feeling of nostalgia to adult Super Mario fans worldwide,” Carl Merriam, the line’s senior designer, said in a release.  “Just as defeating Bowser was always the ultimate challenge in the Super Mario games, here we’re challenging fans to build the King of the Koopas from nearly 3,000 pieces.”

It’s the latest addition to a line that includes a Lego Mario 64 ‘?’ Block and a Lego Nintendo Entertainment System.
