Unlike previous years, Apple only launched Pro models of its new iPhone 18 series for 2026, eschewing the entry-level iPhone 18 along with a Plus model and an upgrade to the iPhone Air. Instead, Apple dropped its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo. To be clear, the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max look very similar to their iPhone 17 Pro series predecessors, just with a thicker camera bump (5mm compared with 4.4mm for the iPhone 17 Pro), which in turn makes it a little thicker overall at the top. That means 18 Pro cases will fit the 17 Pro, but many 17 Pro cases aren’t compatible with the 18 Pro. I’ve tested all the cases in this roundup and will add new top iPhone 18 Pro cases to the list as my testing continues.

Zagg makes a number of great cases for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. Last year I gave a CNET Editors’ Choice to the company’s Ranier case, which returns for the iPhone 18 Pro and remains a top pick if you’re looking for a very protective case pick with a built-in kickstand.
This year I’m highlighting the Sedona, which is slightly slimmer than the Ranier but is still very protective and has a nice, grippy finish. Rated for 16-foot drop protection, it has reinforced bumpers and the same sturdy built-in kickstand as the Rainier and other kickstand-equipped Zagg cases like the Crystal Palace Snap with Stand and Milan with Stand. Available in multiple color options, this is one of the cases I use most on my personal iPhone 18 Pro.
Type of access to camera control button: The Sedona and Rainier cases have touch-sensitive integrated control button covers.

Best iPhone 18 Pro case with 360-spin kickstand
Torras Q3 Air
Pros & Cons
- Eye-catching, lightweight design with integrated ring kickstand that swivels 360 degrees and is sturdy
- Very good corner protection
- Strong magnets for MagSafe accessories
- Good side grip

Expert Take
You can buy more affordable Torras cases for the iPhone 18 Pro (they start at around $20), but the company’s flagship Q3 Air case is clearly its best — and one of the best overall. That’s because it lives up to its billing as “lightweight protection” with a sturdy, retractable 360-degree swiveling kickstand that allows you to prop up your phone horizontally or vertically at a variety of angles.
The case also has grippy design elements to help keep your phone from slipping out of your hand, and strong magnets for MagSafe accessories. While the Q3 Air has the most eye-catching design of Torras’ cases and the best corner protection (Torras says its Shock-Mat technology is “inspired by air-cushioned sneakers”), if it’s more than you want to spend, check out its more affordable Q3 360 Spin ($35) and Q3 Silicone Spin ($42) cases, which feature the same kickstand. Note that the Q3 Air comes in multiple color options, and you’ll sometimes find a couple of the colors discounted by $10 to $15.
Type of access to camera control button: Touch-sensitive integrated control button cover.

Best iPhone 18 Pro case from Otterbox
Otterbox Sole Series case
Pros & Cons
- Slim and lightweight, yet highly protective
- Eye-catching design with “hardwearing” fabric with ombre fade on the back
- High-ridge thread on the sides of the case for good grip
- Removable lanyard loop
- Fairly pricey
- Back fabric can discolor a bit over time

Expert Take
As you’d expect from Otterbox, it has its usual assortment of cases for the iPhone 18 Pro, including its tough Defender Series cases and Symmetry Series Clear cases in various designs and colors. There’s also the Symmetry Series Cactus Leather, which comes in new options and incorporates a cactus-based leather substitute in its design (Otterbox says the faux leather is organically grown and sustainably harvested from nopal cactus).
However, my favorite Otterbox case for the iPhone 18 Pro is still my favorite Otterbox from last year: The Sole Series. It has a high-ridge thread on the sides of the case for better grip and a “hardwearing” fabric with an ombre fade on the back. Available in a few different color options, Otterbox says it exceeds military drop standard MIL-STD-810G 516.6 (130 drops from 4 feet) and has a removable lanyard loop.
New for this year is the Sole Series featuring a Realtree case that has a Realtree camo print integrated into the design. I can’t say I loved any of the Realtree designs, but I’m not really a camo guy to begin with. There’s also theSole Series Pack case that adds a bungee cord pocket on the back for securing small items to the back of your phone, including credit cards and cash. The only drawback is that while it’s a MagSafe case, you can’t attach it to a wireless charging stand because the cords prevent that.

Best slim iPhone 18 Pro case under $25
Spigen Thin Fit
Pros & Cons
- Lightweight and slim
- Textured for better grip
- Affordable
- Nothing fancy but attractively designed with decent protection
- There are tougher cases with better drop protection

Expert Take
I usually include Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid clear case (around $20) in my best iPhone case list most years. But I like its Thin Fit case for the iPhone 18 Pro. It’s a relatively basic case, but it’s lightweight and slim (as its name implies) yet provides good camera protection. Though it’s a generic-looking case, it has an elegant design along with a textured finish on its sides that enhances the grip. It’s also more affordable than a lot of premium cases.

Best iconic iPhone 18 Pro case
Speck CandyShell Icon
Pros & Cons
- Lightweight, slim design, yet offers very good protection
- 13-foot drop-protection rating
- Eye-catching design with a glossy fnish that comes in a variety of bright color options
- Ridges in design and texture for better gripability
- Glossy finish can get a little scuffed up over time

Expert Take
Speck’s CandyShell case was first released for the iPhone 3 and 3G in 2009, and was an immediate hit. The CandyShell Icon case is an evolution of the original. It isn’t totally smooth like that version, adding some ridges for better grip (in that sense, it’s more like the CandyShell Grip, though it does have a glossy finish instead of a matte finish).
Available in multiple color options, it offers excellent protection (it’s rated for 13-foot drop protection) in a lightweight, slim design. While there’s no visible MagSafe ring on the back, the case does support MagSafe and MagSafe accessories adhered securely.
Best iPhone 18 Pro case with camera guard that converts into kickstand
ESR Classic Hybrid case
Pros & Cons
- Built-in kickstand doubles as camera lens protector
- Available in clear and various colors with frosted back
- Rated for 16-foot drop protection
- Strong magnets for MagSafe accessories
- Fairly premium look but not too expensive
- Kickstand in portrait mode tilts at an angle rather than fully upright

Expert Take
ESR’s cases tend to be good values, with more premium designs but without the $50 or $60 price tags. Its Kickstand cases aren’t your typical cases with an integrated kickstand, either. That’s because the kickstand doesn’t flip out from the backside of the case at the bottom. Instead, it serves as a protective ring around your camera lenses when it’s retracted and not in use (ESR calls it a foldable stash stand).
The stand on its Classic Hybrid case, which comes in a clear version along with colored versions with plastic backs, can be extended anywhere between 15 degrees and 69 degrees. You’ll find other generic cases on Amazon with a design like this, but as I said, ESR stands out for having a little more premium look and feel. The Classic Hybrid case also offers good drop protection in a fairly slim design (it’s rated for 16-foot drop protection).

Expert Take
There are plenty of rugged cases available from brands like Otterbox, Zagg and others that are recommendable, but when it comes to tough cases, I’ve always had a soft spot for Rokform cases. An iPhone 18 Pro version of its Slim Magnetic case isn’t available yet, but Rokform’s Crystal and Rugged cases are. I prefer the Crystal because it’s got more design flair than the utilitarian-looking Rugged model.
Both the Crystal and Rugged cases have Rokform’s RokLok twist system and are specially designed to work with the company’s various mounts, including bike and motorcycle mounts (sold separately). While the Rokform Rugged and Crystal cases have a center magnet that lets you stick them to any magnetic surface, they’re MagSafe-enabled and compatible with wireless charging if you remove that center magnet (as shown in the photo). I also like to point out that the MagSafe ring features very strong magnets, so MagSafe accessories — Rokform sells some, too — adhere securely to the case. The cases are expensive, but Rokform offers discounts to first-time buyers on its site.
Type of access to camera control button: Both Rokform’s Crystal and Rugged cases have touch-sensitive integrated control button covers.

Best slim tough case for iPhone 18 Pro
Mous Limitless case
Pros & Cons
- Excellent drop protection despite slim profile
- Several unique design options, including bamboo and carbon fiber
- Durable with a lifetime warranty
- Pricey
- Camera guard and kickstand cost extra

Expert Take
Maybe you’ve seen ads for Mous cases on YouTube or social media, in which the company drops a phone from a helicopter (or some other great height) and it survives the fall. The cases don’t look all that flashy or tough, but they do, in fact, offer excellent protection and are quite slim, with backs that incorporate bamboo, carbon fiber and various other materials. While they’re pretty pricey, all Mous cases have a lifetime warranty.
Mous says the case has its strongest magnets ever and a patent-pending five-part camera control button cover, with an aluminum frame, real glass top and silicone diaphragm that delivers “crisp, consistent feedback and is replaceable if it’s ever damaged.” You can also swap in an optional camera guard for full camera-bump coverage, add a camera kickstand or upgrade to machined-aluminum buttons (all sold separately). My only complaint is that a $70 case should come with the camera kickstand; you shouldn’t have to buy it separately for $20 (the price is ridiculous).

Tech21 EvoPulse Satin Mirror case
Pros & Cons
- Slim with good protection
- Interesting color options
- Expensive for its features

Expert Take
Tech21 sells a wide assortment of its Evo cases for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. They’re all nicely designed, slim cases with good protection (most are rated for 12-foot drops). I always like the standard EvoPulse, but the EvoPulse Satin Mirror case caught my eye (it’s available in the lilac color shown here and deep blue sea). Tech21 says says it’s its slimmest case ever to feature FlexShock technology, which helps mitigate damage if you drop your phone.

Best iPhone 18 Pro leather case
Nomad Traditional Leather case
Pros & Cons
- Sustainably-sourced leather develops nice-looking patina
- Different levels of protection to meet your needs
- Leather cases are expensive
Get it now
Expert Take
I’ve been testing Nomad leather cases for several generations of iPhones, and they’re easily among the top leather cases out there. Nomad’s lineup of iPhone 18 Pro cases hasn’t really changed from the iPhone 17, though the prices have gone up a bit for certain models, and there’s certainly a lot of options to choose from. Once again, its “sustainably-sourced” leather cases come in two grades of leather: the standard “camino” variety and a higher-end Horween that costs $10 more. They both develop a “rugged” patina as the oils from your skin interact with the leather over time. Nomad’s Traditional Leather case starts at $79, while its Modern Leather Case ($69) is a little cheaper because it’s not completely wrapped in leather.
If you’re looking for maximum protection in a leather-styled case, you can opt for the Leather Rugged ($79), which has 15-foot drop protection compared with the Modern Leather’s 8-foot drop rating. Nomad doesn’t give a drop rating for its Traditional Leather case, so one can assume it isn’t as protective. I can attest to it having at least a 4-foot drop protection because I’ve dropped my phone from that distance and it survived just fine.
I also like the company’s Modern Leather Folio wallet case (though I wish it converted into a kickstand like others do) and the slightly more affordable Sport case ($55) and Rugged case ($69 without leather). They don’t have leather, but they do look pretty slick. It’s also worth noting that those looking for some minimalist protection can opt for the Mag Leather Back ($59) that adheres magnetically to the back of your phone and offers some protection for the back of your phone as well as the iPhone 18 Pro’s lenses.
Type of access to the camera control button: Nomad’s iPhone 18 Pro cases feature a touch-sensitive, integrated control-button cover.

- Compatible with its SlimLink magnetic locking system accessories
- MagSafe compatible
- Case and accessories are fairly pricey

Expert Take
While Peak Design’s tougher Gnar case isn’t available yet for the iPhone 18 Pro, its Everyday cases return for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. Available in a variety of colors in nylon fabric and faux leather, as well as the Loop model (pictured), all the Everyday cases are MagSafe-compatible, so you can connect a MagSafe wireless charging puck and other magnetic MagSafe-compatible accessories, including wireless chargers, wallets and more. They have Peak Design’s own built-in magnetic locking system — the company calls it SlimLink — that connects to a wide assortment of Peak Design’s mobile mounts and accessories. That includes bike mounts, charging stands, tripods, car mounts and more. The cases are rated for 6-foot drop protection.
Type of access to camera control button: Touch-sensitive integrated control button cover.
