Apple developers’ accounts weren’t hacked, Apple says.

Apple said late Wednesday a software bug caused its developer site to suffer what some initially thought was a security breach.

The portal suffered an outage after displaying some developers’ home addresses incorrectly, according to reports. That prompted speculation the site may have been hacked because the addresses were changed to reflect a location in Russia.

Some developers, who manage their accounts through the site, tweeted that they had seen the same erroneous address for themselves and others as well.

Further confounding the mystery was the misspelling of the name of the Russian city of St. Petersburg, which was rendered as “Saint-Petesburg.” The city’s former name, Leningrad, was also included.
